Pirate or Cowboy?
May 17, 2010
I just read an interesting post on one of my favorite blogs: FreeRangeKids.
There’s a Verizon Wireless commercial about how a mom “saves the day” at her son’s birthday party when there is a mix up and a cowboy comes instead of a pirate to entertain the children.
This guys commentary is hilarious, and as the daughter of a worrying, worst-case-scenario kind of mother (Hi Mom! You know I love you so much!!), I identified with his experience.
As parents, we want to hold on to the illusion that we are in ultimate control of our kids and their lives. It ain’t so. So, let’s embrace teaching them to roll with the punches. (I thought the cowboy looked easily as fun as the pirate. Not a big disappointment for the kids even in the mother hadn’t stepped in, I would wager.)
my favorite line in his commentary is ‘Sweet Fancy Moses’…haven’t heard that one before. 🙂
Lee-are you sure your doors are all locked right now? Did you say Free ranged or De ranged? 🙂
